Install Driver

Windows users should install the USB driver from here : http://ww1.microchip.com/downloads/en/DeviceDoc/MCP2221%20Windows%20Driver%202014-10-09.zip

This may require the computer to be restarted before the new com port to show up

Install EasyUploader

Install the software from one of these links :

Mac version EasyUploader.dmg

Windows version EasyUploader.msi

Connect USB

Connect the module before launching EasyUploader

Run the uploader

  1. Select the chip : ATmega328P
  2. Choose your com port
  3. Pick the appropriate.hex file

EasyUploader

Attention do not upload .hex file containing bootloader (like the one that can be produced by the Arduino IDE) : this would delete the original bootloader and would require the use of a programmer to reflash it.

Talko Firmware

Hardware version 1.2

Talko1_2.hex : Original version of the software.

Talko1.2rev1 : 3 new banks added : 15: French Vowels Male / 16: Voiced allophones / 17: VCO friendly voiced allophones

Talko1.2rev2 : VCO mode uses 1V/octave tracking to play notes.
Feed the CV into PITCH jack and tune it with the BEND pot to play notes.

Talko1_1.hex : Original version of the software.  Runs on the hardware version 1.0 & 1.1

Talko1_1VCO.hex :  Updated VCO mode.  Runs on the hardware version 1.0 & 1.1

Auduino1_1.hex :  Auduino, the Lo-Fi granular synthesiser. Runs on the hardware version 1.0 & 1.1

Talko1_1DV.hex : Talko growling mode

Engage the bending switch and use the bending knob to generate a strange growling voice.  Bank 5 modified to generated big numbers (from 0 to 999.999) on gate trigger.  [fac_icon icon=”exclamation-triangle”] Attention loud volume possible  !
